Here's Your Chance

Community Leaders, Agencies, Educators, & Law Enforcement - have your voice heard!

With 220 gangs and over 19,000 members county wide, the gang population in Fresno County is anywhere from 2 – 6%. Gangs are responsible for as much as 33% of homicides and 70% of aggravated assaults - the most violent offenses in the County. It has been stated before that this problem didn’t begin overnight and it’s not going to end overnight.

This makes community perceptions and participation all the more important to understand and include in the comprehensive solutions developed.

This is your opportunity to provide your thoughts and comments on how to address the County’s gang issue and be part of a Countywide Gang Prevention Assessment Report.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

1. Community Agencies, Businesses and Law Enforcement are encouraged to complete an online survey. The brief survey will be available only through the month of May, so please visit http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/129486/agency-perceptions to provide your input today.

2. Educators and School Administrators are encouraged to complete an online survey specifically targeted for schools. The brief survey will be available through the month of May, so please visit http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/61954/school-staff-perceptions-survey to complete it today.

To thank you for your time – all who complete the online survey may enter a drawing for a $50 gift card to a local restaurant.

Please forward this information to your networks and/or post this information to your website.

Thank you!

Community Organizations Needed to Participate in Resource Assessment

January 15, 2008 05:17 by dmckenzie

Your assistance is needed to complete a Fresno County Assessment that will support gang prevention efforts. A broad community resource inventory is being conducted to ascertain the services and programs that exist throughout the County currently serving or that could serve gang members and youth at risk of gang membership. If you believe you and/or your organization serves as a resource (or potential resource) in providing these types of services, you represent an important community agency to the overall response Fresno County can make in addressing gangs; and your participation in this assessment is greatly needed and appreciated.

Please find attached a community resource inventory form (in MS Word) we hope your organization will complete and return it via email to Debra McKenzie, Gang Task Force Coordinator at dmckenzie@co.fresno.ca.us no later than January 28, 2008.
