On March 26, 2009 Governor Schwarenegger announced that Fresno County would be receiving over $703, 000 in CalGRIP funds as part of a competitive grant process. Fresno County Recipients include City of Sanger (Communities That Care Gang Task Force), Parlier Youth Center, and Genesis Family Center. In addition, President Barack Obama signed the 2009 Commerce, Justice, & Science Bill that will provide $300,000 to the County of Fresno for its Never Give Up! Gang Prevention Initiative. The funds are the result of the Fresno Council of Government's One Voice trip and the Fresno County Board of Supervisor's identification of gangs as a number one project issue.
